It is that time of year again! We choose to only do one bridal show each year, the Weddings in Houston show, their Bridal Soiree on January 24, 2010 from 1-6pm at The Houstonian. I love doing the show because it is so much fun to get to meet so many people in person and talk to so many couples that are planning their wedding day. I love that dreamy time of planning, when you’re considering all the options! It is also so much more intimate with then a show at the George R. Brown where there are thousands of vendors – this show has a limited number of vendors in each category, and you can actually walk through it all without feeling like you have to rush or wanting to cry because your feet hurt! (Oh, how I remember that feeling from my own wedding planning adventures!)
Last year one of our recent brides, Patricia, attended the show with us and it was so awesome having her there because she could speak firsthand to couples about what it was like to work with us. We decided to do it again this year, and invited Katherine, who agreed to join us as soon as I asked her – on her wedding day! She is just so full of great energy, and we loved working together! Their wedding will be up on the blog next – I can’t wait to share it with you!
We decided to try something new for our promo cards to pass out this year, and I have to say – I LOVE how they turned out! Even better then they were in my original vision. We did a whole series of them from several different 2009 weddings, plus a boudoir session, and I think we’ve hit on a theme that we’ll be continuing over time! What do you think?
Oh, they just make me so giddy — I love how they tie in with the postcard up there on the banner of the blog. I’ve collected postcards since I was about 10 years old, and I always make sure to buy one to add to the collection wherever I go, so it is such a perfect extension of me. Elaine on the other hand collects floaty pens — you know those pens with the thing that slides from one end to the other in the top half of the barrel? She has hundreds of them! They are so cool too! I’ll have to ask her to share some photos of them someday.
Along with the cards, we’re formally launching our hourly photography option! For 2009, we focused mainly on our Complete Wedding Collection, which is unlimited shooting time with me, a second photographer for 8 hours, an engagement session, and a DVD of the images, and couples selected what albums or other items they would like to add on to that. It has worked out to be absolutely amazing! But at the same time, we realized not everyone needs that — some people simply need less time. Some people, thanks to today’s economy, might have more modest plans for their wedding. We get that. We feel it. We hear you! We’ve always offered custom packages, but we’re sort of making it more formal by putting it right up front as an option. The new price information will be ready on Monday! We want to make working with us as easy as possible for you — it is how we roll! *grin*
If you’re at the Bridal Soiree this weekend, be sure to come by our booth and say hello! I look forward to meeting you, and hope to work with you in 2010 or beyond!
