We started our afternoon over lunch, once I found my way through the streets of downtown Napa to meet up with her. Laughing over talk of raising boys and working as photographers. Kathi Cook & I met thanks to photography, and it is our passion for women rediscovering themselves that brought us together. I still remember watching Kathi at her Team-X Fight Club, broadcast from California, talking about helping couples reignite their passion.
I cried.
Such a beautiful mission. Something that I can see Kathi light up as she talks about – even without a camera in her hand.
After our lunch, we walked around Napa and I photographed her. My mission, of course, was to help her rediscover her beauty. I think her mission and mine are more closely tied together than you might think on the surface. I believe that we need to rediscover our love for ourselves as well. Parenthood takes a toll. The day to day of being a wife takes a toll. Being a rock of strength during the trials of life takes a toll. All of it wears you down. You forget what made you beautiful & confident – and what made you fall in love with your spouse. It is a delicate dance, and one that can get away from you if you let it.
Kathi is radiant. It was a simple move, one that she probably does a thousand times a day, tucking her hair behind her ear. She was waiting for me to tell her what to do, and I was waiting for her to let her guard down. I wanted to show her what the rest of us see when we look at her. Her in her everyday, her true beauty.
Together our superpowers were woven together. Me helping her, her helping me. I left with a renewed spirit, and even more anxious to get home to be reunited with my husband again.
Spending time with her touched my heart, and I am so glad that I got to spend a few hours with her seeing Napa (and the world) from her perspective. I long to return some day soon, and there will be more time together when I do.
As a business owner, it is so important that we have headshots of ourselves, portraits we can use on our website and marketing materials. Interested in working with me? Contact me so we can talk!

Christine, I LOVE you:) Thank you for bringing out that part of me that has been tucked away for awhile. I felt, well, renewed after being with you. And, based on some of our conversations, the part that has been tucked away, like the sweep of my hair behind my ear:), is shining a bit brighter each day. Can’t you just hear Diana Ross, I’m Coming Out! I can’t wait until you come back. By then, I’ll have SO much more to show you and tell you ………
Thank you for sharing this Christine. It is so amazing what passion and photography can create when combined… especially when from two separate sources. Lovely photo and inspirational words.
