Get Out the White Linen! Houston Art & Photography

It is that time of year again! This Saturday, August 1st, from 6-10pm is White Linen Night in the Heights! Come on out to the studio at 1024 Studewood and join us for it! This year, our featured artist is JenXer (Jennifer Mathis), whose paintings and resin figures are fabulous! I am so excited about this opportunity to share her work with everyone! Also on display for sale throughout our space will be fine art photography by both Elaine & myself.

We’ll have desserts by Porch Swing Desserts (perfect for wedding favors!), beer from Saint Arnolds, wine, water and more!

This is a great chance to check out the studio space that I use for my Boudoir sessions too and to meet me in case you wanted to do that before booking your own session and taking advantage of the Beat the Heat $100 off sale!

Wait, what is White Linen Night? From what I’ve been told, it started in New Orleans as an event in the French Quarter. You would put on your white linen – the coolest clothing option in the summer heat – and visit the local art galleries. Over time, this tradition has come to Houston and it is a fun and fantastic event! Shops all around the Heights will be open, there will lots of live music, a trolley to take you from place to place (we’re right across the street from the stop at Hello Lucky!), the First Saturday Art Market on 19th St that Elaine & I have been at the past two years, and so much more!

And yes, many people that come out for it do, in fact, wear either white linen or something else white.

Yale Street Market!

The above photograph is one of many that Elaine & I will have for sale this Saturday at the Yale Street Market! Come and visit the Fresh Photography booth and see what prints we have to offer. The market is a ton of fun – all the vendors are required to make what they sell and there are lot of great things available. There is also live music, plus fantastic shopping nearby in the Heights!

The market is during the daytime this month from 11am – 6pm, in the parking lot next to the Wind & Water Gallery, 548 West 19th Street Houston, TX 77008. Be sure to say hello if you come by!

PS – I’ll be formally returning from vacation next Tuesday (January 8th), when my son returns to school, and will begin the blogapalooza of posts then. I’m trying to catch up on emails today though, so if you have sent one that I didn’t respond to yet, you should hear from me soon!

Ok, seriously? Where did this week go? Is it just me, or did it zooooom by?

The 600 Sq. Mi. Exhibit opening party is tonight, and I have a photo in the show! In the Houston area? Come on out and join the fun! I’ll be there! It is from 7-10pm at the M2 Gallery in the Heights, on 19th Street. Good times, good music, food & drinks – you can’t miss this!

Elaine mentioned this in passing on the phone yesterday, but I didn’t ask her all the details – she was quoted and her photos were used in the U of H newspaper article about the exhibit! Squeee!
