The Cullen Sculpture Garden is one of my favorite places to do bridal portrait sessions with my Houston wedding photography clients. Sarom & her friend Crystal met up with me there for her bridal portrait session, and we had so much fun! It was a blast to get to hang out with both of them before the wedding because it helped make the wedding day even more relaxing. Sarom looked stunning in her wedding dress – she is so beautiful! I’m so excited about getting to share her photographs with you!

Sarom realized that she wanted a bouquet for the session, and she hadn’t ordered one from the florist – so she whipped this up herself before the shoot! Isn’t it gorgeous?

If you’ve ever visited the Cullen Sculpture Garden in Houston, you will know that the rules are that you can NOT touch the sculptures. But Sarom is a bit of a rebel – especially with Crystal & me cheering her on!

When we went to New Orleans last month, my friend Laura brought a wedding dress with her for us to use for a photo shoot. As luck would have it, it was a perfect fit for Lynette, a Dallas wedding photographer, and she agreed to pose for us. We went out on the streets of the French Quarter in New Orleans, armed with video lights, flashes, and the ambient light to get some great shots!

I should just admit it. I don’t like to take photos in large groups. 10+ cameras pointing at one person doesn’t really lead to very creative photography. You can’t control the shoot. You can’t tell the model how to pose unless you decide to take charge and ask them to pose a certain way – which is a bit hard to do when you’re there with a lot of friends. You don’t want to be bossy. You just want to take pretty photos.

I don’t normally post photos from shoots like this because I don’t have creative control over the session, and they aren’t a paying client. But Lynette was so much fun to work with, and she was willing to pose for us – so really, it is the least I could do to share them with you! And I did take charge for some of these shots, as you can see when she is looking right at me!

Of course, if you have 10-20 photographers crammed in a small alley between buildings, shining video lights on a woman in a wedding dress, you are bound to have some people stopping when they pass by to check out what is going on!

Our brand new 5×7 promo cards, prints, slideshows, and everything else is ready for the “Before you say I do!” Bridal Soiree put on by Weddings In Houston magazine this Sunday! January 25, 2009 from 1-6pm at The Houstonian. Wedding experts, a runway fashion show, and a champagne reception! I’ll be there, will you? Tickets are $18 in advance, and $20 at the door.

The show special isn’t listed on the cards though – I’ll be passing that out exclusively at the show!

A little note on designing these cards: a lot of people think you shouldn’t put your pricelist out there. I’ve even gone back and forth on this. But then I started thinking about it recently – in the digital age we are in now, we all want information, and we want it now. I remember when I was planning for my wedding 5 years ago, it was so frustrating to have to email photographers and other vendors, ask for their prices, and then wait to hear back from them. If they were out of my budget, I didn’t want to bother them — or I wanted to figure out a way to make it work with my budget!*

You may have noticed if you have poked around this site a lot, I’m ok with putting a lot of information out there. I’ve always gotten excellent feedback on that from my clients and how much they appreciate it. So it just makes sense to do it with my pricing too! I’ll be adding the full pricelist to the site next week. (The card has an abbreviated pricelist – I couldn’t fit everything on there!)

The photo used in the cards is one from Brooke’s bridal session at Discovery Green and Eleanor Tinsley Park in downtown Houston. It was *so* hard to pick just one photo! I finally decided to let Flickr pick for me – this is one of my most popular wedding photos from 2008 over there!

We also have a new album coming for the show from Tricia & Daniel’s Wedding in The Woodlands. It is going to be stunning! It is a 12×12 book with a beautiful red cover, and a parent’s album coffee table book companion. I can’t wait to share it with everyone!

Of course, I had to create one for Boudoir Mon Cheri as well! It is done in matching blue, since my advertisement with Weddings in Houston magazine is branded that way. Elaine commented that this was one of her favorite boudoir shots, so I decided it was perfect for the card!

* In case you are curious, we hired Gary Guy, and we love our photos – he was so much fun to work with!

3. Spice Up Your Holidays!

I’ve been waiting for weeks to be able to share these photos! Brooke’s bridal portrait session was back in October, but we had to keep the photos under wraps until the wedding day yesterday – we didn’t want to ruin the surprise for Billy! (Who thought she was truly stunning – it was a gorgeous wedding!)

I could have never gotten these great images without Beth, Dana & Karen’s help! We took photographs at Discovery Green and Eleanor Tinsley Park in downtown.

Mmmmm… we went to the Biltmore House on Tuesday for a photoshoot, and this was one of the last shots of the day that I took. Literally as we were on our way to the car; we just couldn’t resist that amazing light. I have tons more from the day, but this one just jumped out too much for me to not share it.

UPDATE: I won! I won! I entered this photo in the workshop contest — and I won the Grand Prize! An amazing, incredible White Glove First Edition book. They are just AMAZING albums, and I am so excited about my prize!
