Leaving On a Jet Plane…
July 20, 2008 | Filed Under Fun Stuff! | 6 Comments
I’m leaving in just a few hours on a jet plane — but I do know when I’ll be back again! (Ok, that was lame. It is late, and I just got home from shooting Kelly & Ian’s *fabulous* wedding - so try not to be too hard on me!)
I’m leaving on Sunday, July 20th to head to California for the first time in my life. Whee! I’ll be heading up to Mendocino for a wedding, then staying a few days longer so I can shoot with a friend next Saturday at his wedding. I’ll be catching a late night flight back to Houston on Sunday, July 27th.
I’ll be checking my email via the iPhone as reception will allow, and doing my best to respond as quickly as possible. I should also have computer internet access at different points on my trip. Feel free to write or call, and I’ll respond as quickly as possible!
Oh, and the sneak peek of Kelly & Ian’s wedding will be posted from California — we’re still downloading the cards right tonight!
Kelly & Ian - Downtown Houston Engagement Session
July 19, 2008 | Filed Under Engagement Sessions | Leave a Comment

I met up with Kelly & Ian at Sambuca, the location of their first date to start off their engagement session. We decided to walk around downtown and take photos wherever the mood struck — I had a few locations in mind right in the area, like my favorite old parking lot and brick wall, and of course the Majestic Metro, where they are getting married today!

I love how he makes her laugh.

No session feels complete without the wall shot of the rings!

I loved Kelly’s dress. I loved it so much, I even tried it on at a store a few weeks later — as I put it on, I realized it was her dress! (I ended up picking out a different one - but how I love that dress!)

They were such troopers with the heat that day - a heat wave had come through, and the thermometer in my car said 97 degrees when I parked. It was HOT. Hot, hot, hot. But they were awesome through it all!

We tried to think happy, cool air-conditioned thoughts.

We ended the night, after dinner at Frank’s Pizza, right back where we started at Sambuca.
Thanks again Kelly & Ian for the awesome engagement session! I am really looking forward to your wedding today at the Majestic Metro - one of my favorite spots in downtown Houston!
Miss K- the First Studio Boudoir Session!
July 15, 2008 | Filed Under boudoir | Leave a Comment

Miss K’s boudoir session was the first one held at the new studio in the Heights, and it was fabulous! We had so much fun talking and getting to know one another while choosing spots to use for our photographs. She is so beautiful, her smile is so wonderful, and her laugh is just contagious!
More photos are posted on Boudoir Mon Cheri!
I was recently contacted for a reference for a boudoir session, and she sent me a copy of what she sent along — I asked her if I could post it here, and she said yes. Here it is:
Thanks so much for your email. Christine and I had our boudoir session on Wednesday, July 2nd, and I’m so happy to recommend her. I did them for similar reasons as it sounds like you’re considering, and I’m happy that I decided to do it. Christine was wonderful - a consummate professional. Even standing there in my skivvies, she always made me feel comfortable and beautiful (and her photos reflected that).
I arrived and showed Christine what I’d brought to wear. I put on the first outfit (my most tame), and we played with different poses and backgrounds. It was not embarassing at all because Christine really takes care of you (ie makes sure that you look great in the shots and that you’re looking/feeling natural). I did not do any nude shots; the most naked I got was down to my underwear, and I did it alone (without my fiance). We did all kinds of poses, from being on the bed in more “come hither” poses (but classy “come hither” poses) to sitting in chairs in more portrait-ish style (stuff that can sit on my fiance’s desk at work). Christine also took some great candids and journalistic shots that I will treasure.
All in all, I’m thrilled to have had the experience, and I trust Christine so much. She has a great eye, and her work is beautiful. But mostly, we just had fun, and she really took her time, attended to every little detail, and really impressed me with her personality and professionalism. I simply cannot say enough great things about both the experience and Christine! I hope this helps to inform your decision, and if you have any further questions, I’d be more than happy to answer them.
Enjoy your session, if you decide to book one, and best wishes.
Thank *YOU* Miss K for being so wonderful to work with — I just know your fiance´ is going to love them!
Congratulations, Maren & Clint! Wedding in Galveston, Texas
July 13, 2008 | Filed Under Wedding Photography, Weddings | 6 Comments

Maren & Clint were married yesterday in Galveston, Texas at the historic Menard House. It was the perfect setting for an absolutely beautiful occasion.
Maren & Clint started dating when they were juniors in high school. They have been together through college and starting medical school, living in the same city and dating over distance too. The best man, who met Clint when they were assigned to be roommates their sophomore year of college (and Clint had a mohawk back then), gave the cutest speech telling Maren about Clint’s bedtime habits, such as how he likes to read textbooks in bed. The best part though was when he said that Clint talked to Maren every night, and nothing else made him happier than that. (Ok, I’m getting goosebumps just thinking about it - it was sweet!)
I wish you both nothing but the absolute best in your lifetime ahead! More photos to come in the next few weeks!

Maren & Clint - Houston Zoo Engagement Session
July 12, 2008 | Filed Under Engagement Sessions | 2 Comments

Maren & Clint are getting married today! These are photos from their engagement session back on April 13, 2008 at the Houston Zoo. We had this great idea that we would take photos in the petting zoo with all the animals - but the animals? They had a different plan! So the above photo is the result. Oh well, we still had a great time at the zoo!

Finding shadows.

In the entrance of the bat cave, I believe.

On the lawn, under the beautiful old oak trees.

And of course, we had to be sure to check out the baby elephant!
Congratulations, Kate & John! Wedding in Katy, Texas

Kate & John were married last Saturday at the Falcon Point Golf Club in Katy, Texas. They are such an adorable couple, and the ceremony & reception at the newly-remodeled club was so sweet and intimate. With colors of yellow and green, it was so bright and colorful. And in honor of the 4th of July, they served chili dogs and hamburgers! (Along with chicken.) Oh, and the cookies! How can I forget the cookies?
More photos to come, but here are a few of my favorites from the day!

Kate & her father, just before she headed down the aisle.
Kate & John, while they were dating, enjoyed playing board games. One night, John came over with a brand new Scrable set … with “Will you marry me?” written on the back. How sweet is that?!? Kate brought the set to the wedding and set it up at the guest book table, with different words spelled out on the board relating to them. It was just adorable!

The father-daughter dance.
I don’t normally go too extreme with my colors when I’m editing photographs, preferring to keep the colors true to reality. This photo just begged for some more extreme and artistic treatment, so I decided to try out something different.
