At the beginning of September, I had the privilege of photographing the wedding of Jennifer & David with Jennifer & Dennis Wilson of Silver Plate Photography of New Braunfels, Texas. Whew! How is that for a confusing sentence? Jennifer Wilson contacted me this summer and asked me to photograph the wedding with her husband, as she was a bridesmaid in the wedding so she was going to have to put down the camera for a change. It is always such an honor to work with another photographer in a situation like this, because she was contacting me for one of her long-time personal friends. It was such a beautiful day, and we all had a great time.

The wedding was at the Spring Branch Presbyterian Church, and the reception was at the Crystal Ballroom of the Rice Hotel. The band was awesome - Jennifer even got up and sang with them! - and the day was just FUN!

The Yarn Harlot

Absolutely not wedding or photography related at all, I had to share my glee over getting to see the Yarn Harlot last night at Twisted Yarns. Her wit and charm is just irresistible. Plus the room FULL of knitters always get a huge kick out of how, when she goes to a book store for a book signing, they think that since it is a knitting book there will only be about 10 people there. Ha! I don’t know a final count number, but I will say it was a pretty full room. Texas being as large as it is, and the fact that it was a weeknight, kept some people from traveling for it. If it had been on a weekend, I’m pretty confident that more people would have come from far and wide to see her.

I also interviewed her for my soon to be returning knitting podcast, PointySticks.

I normally don’t post about personal events over here, but at the same time it is nice to put a “face” on the woman behind the photographs. Knitting is one of my favorite things to do when I’m not holding a camera in my hands. I think that much like my photographs, it is often all about the color and textures that knitting provides. I *heart* wool!

I’ve been busy changing the look of things around here. First up, the blog - I wanted to be able to post wider photos, so this is the first one to test that out. Next up, I’ll be changing things on the main site design, and from there adding photos and slideshows! First, I’m wrapping up the slideshow from Jennie & David’s wedding - I was the second photographer for Jennifer & Dennis Wilson of Silver Plate Photography of New Braunsfels, Texas. Jennifer was actually in the wedding, which was held here in Houston, so they needed help capturing the day - I had some might big shoes to fill, as she is a great photographer!

I’ll talk more about the day in detail when I post the slideshow of my photos from the day!

600 Sq. Mi.

Ok, seriously? Where did this week go? Is it just me, or did it zooooom by?

The 600 Sq. Mi. Exhibit opening party is tonight, and I have a photo in the show! In the Houston area? Come on out and join the fun! I’ll be there! It is from 7-10pm at the M2 Gallery in the Heights, on 19th Street. Good times, good music, food & drinks - you can’t miss this!

Elaine mentioned this in passing on the phone yesterday, but I didn’t ask her all the details - she was quoted and her photos were used in the U of H newspaper article about the exhibit! Squeee!
