Germany Update!

This is a speeeeeeedy update - it cost 2 Euros (about $3) for 15 minutes of internet time. Just long enough to write a FAST post, post photos, and run!
Bacharach, Germany (Rhine river valley), where we are staying for 2 nights in the castle overlooking the town:
Burg Eltz (near Mosel river valley):
More to come soon, when the internet doesn’t cost so much!
Greetings from Amsterdam!

Jason & I arrived yesterday morning at about 8am (local time) in Amsterdam. After finding the hotel & getting a short nap, we went out and walked around the city. So fabulous to see so many people walking, and so many bikes. I always knew that there were a lot of bikes here, but had no idea just how many until we arrived - it is just astonishing!
We went on a river cruise, and walked and photographed some more, until we just couldn’t stay awake any longer. Another nap, and then when Mike arrived from London, we went out for dinner and a stroll around the Dam and down Damark.
We are having a great time, although the jet lag is still making me a bit tired and punchy right now. We’ll adjust soon though, I’m sure! Today, we are off for Germany!
Clear Up the Fog

There are so many wedding photographers out there, and we all do things a little bit differently. Deciding which wedding photographer you want to hire is a big decision - they are going to be responsible for capturing the key moments of your wedding day, and depending on their style, all the little moments inbetween. On top of that, they are one of the main people you will be spending almost all of your wedding day with - from the beginning to to very end. It is really important that they make you comfortable and happy, in addition to taking awesome photographs.
I often tell my potential brides & grooms that in the end, photography isn’t something you want to skimp on, and you should follow your instincts and hire someone that you really connect with. Those two things are pretty key.
It is still important to know and understand the ins & outs of the wedding photography business, and I highly recommend spending some time checking out all the details at WedFog and help clear up the fog around “fog”-tography!
BarStool Magazine, July 2007

In Houston? Pick up a copy of the July issue of BarStool magazine and you’ll see my photographs in it! I photographed the bartender for the Bartender of the Month feature, and then did a separate shoot at Leon’s Lounge on McGowen in Midtown. It was such an incredible rush to see my photographs in print, and while I did a speed posting on Flickr, I can’t believe I didn’t share them in the blog too!
August’s issue will have more photographs by me, and photographs that Elaine took also - amazing stuff, I’m just bursting at the seams waiting to share!
I’m heading out of town on Friday, but I’ll be available online and checking my voicemail messages from time to time too - the best way to reach me is definitely via email for the next 2 weeks or so. If there is a lag in hearing back from me, this is why - but I promise, I’ll get back to you as soon as I can! And when I return from our vacation, there will be lots of BIG news!
(Cross posted, in case you’re curious, in the Fresh Photography blog and over at my personal blog.)
Sunrise, Sunset

I always tell clients that the best light - the golden glow - is about an hour or so before sunset. Shooting at that time of day can be just amazing! (I’ve heard similar things about sunrise, but I’m not often upo that early so I can’t really speak about that time of day! Haha!) I’m often trying to determine what time the sunset will be at - it is a great thing to know when planning for a wedding to find that magical light. Now I know where to go for the information! SunriseSunset.com is a fast and easy resource for looking it up!
Update: Ok, I have to add now that I have been up for that beautiful early morning light, and it is fabulous!
Weddings in Houston Magazine!
July 9, 2007 | Filed Under Wedding Photography | 2 Comments

Back in mid-May, I made the decision to advertise in the latest issue of Weddings in Houston magazine. At the time, all of the wedding and portrait goodness was over at Fresh Photography site. Well, ok, it is still over there in a way - but it is permanently going to be over here! Matter of fact, the decision to launch this site was a hard one, since the ad had already gone to print.
Then I went to Elevate, hosted by Garrett & Joy Nudd, and in my one-on-one meeting with the Nudds, Ann Hamilton and Gene Higa, and at the end of it all, I decided that I really wanted to keep all of my wedding and portrait work over here, at the new site. It makes it easier for people to find what they need on both sites!
So if you see the ad and you make your way over here, now you know the story behind the move! My creative, artistic “not people” pictures will be over at Fresh Photography, and my here you will find my wedding photography!
